How do you deal with homesickness? We take the time to talk with each camper about their homesickness. The first time away from family or familiar faces can be a little scary (for the parents and the camper). Very rarely do any campers go home from camp due to homesickness. On the whole, our campers are acclimated within 72 hours of arrival.

How do I contact you in case of emergency? While there is no cell service at camp, we will have access to internet via Starlink. Please note that our access to internet is limited to one small area, so we may not respond to your messages immediately. Contact (833) 267-2267 or questions@campsequoialake.info

Will my child be able to call me or use social media at camp?Camp Sequoia Lake is in a mountainous region with extremely limited cell phone service. Further, we expressly ask that you do not send cell phones to camp. To foster interpersonal communication while at camp, we need the campers to feel comfortable interacting with their peers. Cell phones prohibit this type of interaction.
-
Can you accommodate special dietary restrictions at camp?We offer a vegetarian option at every meal. However, if your child is severely allergic to particular types of food (for example, peanuts), we cannot guarantee the kitchen preparation will not come in contact with certain items. In extreme cases, you can send food with your camper for the week. Please contact us for further information.
-
Does Conejo Camp Sequoia Lake have any religious affiliations? No, CCSL is a secular program and welcomes people of all religions. We do not include any religious activities in our program.
-
My child is not a confident swimmer, can you accommodate their needs at the lake?Yes! Every camper will take a swim test at the beginning of the week, overseen by lifeguards. If your child does not pass this test, they will be outfitted with proper life vests any time they go in the water (canoes/boats included). There is never a time in which campers will be unsupervised by lifeguards while swimming in the lake.
-
How do you assign campers to cabin groups?Campers are grouped by age and/or grade in our camp. Our goal is to create groups with a mix of campers both new and returning. Many of our campers attend camp on their own, so we make every effort to include other campers in the group who also came to camp on their own. For campers coming with a friend or friends, we are happy to accommodate requests, but requests must be mutual. When campers come to camp in large groups, it becomes difficult to keep all friends together therefore it is likely that groups of 4 or larger will be split into separate groups. However, we try our best to be sure that campers from a large group are with at least one of their requests (not necessarily their first request). We do our best to accommodate all cabin requests however we cannot guarantee requests.

My child can't attend the whole week of camp.We understand that there are some events in life you just can't miss. We highly encourage campers to be present for the whole week in order to have the best experience. Please speak with a camp Director/administrator as soon as possible so we can make proper arrangements for your child to either come to camp late, or be picked up early.
-
Do campers choose their daily activities?A predetermined activity schedule is assigned to each cabin group at camp. Some activities are determined by age group and group size, thus we organize each cabin's schedule accordingly to make sure every camper has the opportunity to participate in every activity. Click here to view a sample daily activity schedule.
-
What is the camper to counselor ratio? Our camper to counselor ratio is approximately 3:1. Two counselors bunk with and supervise each cabin group, plus a CIT during some daytime activities.
-
Is there a limit to how much my child can bring with them to camp? While we provide a packing guide as a recommendation, our general thought is "Pack only what is necessary." Space is limited on each bus, so pack as lightly as possible.
